In the northwestern part of In unfassen or "the haunted
dry river bed which breathes" in Tamashek, is a petrified
wood forest which covers an area of two hundred square
kilometers. Certain petrified tree trunks are larger
than two meters in diameter and twenty meters long.
On the road to In unfassen you can see herds of addax
gazelles which have survived attacks from all kinds
of poachers. This is the beginning of the great plateau
of the desert of the Tamesna.
